The following paragraphs describe
the typical surrogacy journey and how we work with you
throughout the surrogacy.
Intended Parents: We
typically meet with you in our office to learn more about your
personal history, answer questions and learn more about what you
are looking for in a surrogate. Once you decide to work with
us, we have you complete a questionnaire that provides
additional information.
Gestational Surrogate: Our first step is to get to know
you and learn about your wishes in Intended Parents. To become
a gestational surrogate, we do an initial screening which
includes a questionnaire, phone interviews with our social
worker. Later, we administer a psychological screening test
(required by most IVF clinics), criminal background check for
you and your
husband/partner if you have one.
Matching: Once the initial Gestational Surrogate
screening is completed, we provide the completed questionnaire
and phone interview write-up to Intended Parents. If they want
to move forward, we provide the Intended Parents' completed
questionnaire to the Gestational Surrogate. If the potential
surrogate wants to take the next step, , we put you in touch
with each other by phone. Ideally, you talk on the phone
several times and then meet in person.
Preparation: Once the match is complete, we guide you
through working with the selected IVF clinic for your medical
screening, lawyers to create a legal agreement and an insurance
specialist to help put proper insurance in place for the
pregnancy.
Transfer and pregnancy: The transfer occurs and once
pregnancy is confirmed we stay in touch with everyone to make
sure that the surrogate is well cared for and the intended
parents get the support they need. A to Z provides the escrow
services to make payments as outlined in your gestational
carrier agreement so that you can focus on pregnancy related
matters. There are also monthly group phone calls available for
all surrogates and a social worker which allows surrogates to
share questions and concerns, and discuss the effect that
surrogacy has had on their lives.
